The Ages and Stages Questionnaire Social Emotional- Second Edition (ASQ:SE-2) is a validated, standardized developmental screening tool that can provide rich information about a child’s social and emotional development including self regulation, adapting to situations, and interaction with people. The ASQ:SE-2 can be used in a variety of settings to support a family’s understanding of their child’s development and provide evidence for further assessment and developmental support.

In this session, participants will become familiar with the social- emotional developmental continuum and the 7 behavioral areas as defined in the ASQ:SE-2. Participants will consider next steps , including referrals & identifying additional resources within the community for children and families based on the ASQ:SE-2 results. This workshop is appropriate for I/ECMHC who plans on supporting the ASQ:SE-2, including early intervention, early childhood, and other healthcare providers. Understanding Social Emotional Development can assist in preventing expulsion/suspension by providing appropriate support for both child & caregiver.
